Kiawah Island Golf Resort

I started working at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina when I applied for the Department of Labor apprenticeship program in 2016. I spent two years at this resort doing various of different tasks at a variety of places throughout the island. I was responsible for multiple positions throughout the island, including preparation of menu items, ensuring food products that were received were up to standards, and taking inventory. During this time, I improved my knife skills, time management, and organization skills. Upon completion of the program, I was promoted to manage a poolside cantina where I made standardized recipes, created order guides, and executed all menu items. Due to my work ethic, positive personality, and willingness to learn, my time at Kiawah made me a valuable asset to the team. Kiawah has multiple themes and styles restaurants, which have made me interested in learning what the culinary industry offers.

 Throughout my work experiences, I have maintained positions in various styled and themed food service systems where I have gained knowledge on how to efficiently be a successful team member. I strive to make the public school's food systems a happy, healthy, and enjoyable experience for all students. My added experience with a dietetic internship and education with a master's degree in dietetics will ensure I am able to accomplish these goals.
